Original post:
In the early morning hours of Thursday, August 24, 2023, Mark and Pam Novak were attacked in their home by a known assailant. Mark devastatingly lost his life and Pam was severely injured and sent to ICU. We are so incredibly grateful to still have Pam with us and know that she will recover. Their family has been faced with the unimaginable task of picking up the pieces to help Pam recover while trying to grapple with the raw grief of losing Mark so tragically. Can you imagine? No. Nope. No one can. Not even when it's happening.
This. Can't. Be. Real.
Anyone who knows Mark and Pam knows them as friends. They loved each other dearly and it spilled over to everyone they met. Their smiles, warmth, and kindness reached far and wide and never discriminated. So, dear friends, in this time of sorrow, tragedy, and HOPE, we ask for you to please reflect back all the warmth and kindness you can to help support Pam and her family. We know support comes in many forms. Please extend what you can and feel moved to do. Accepted: Hugs, Kind Words, Calls/Texts, Patience, Prayers, and any Monetary Support you can if you feel inclined to help with the surmounting expenses that are part of their journey to Remember, Recover, and Rebuild:
**Updated 2/16/24:
REMEMBER: A Memorial and Celebration of Life is planned this spring to remember Mark and honor the legacy of this dear, sweet man. Help with funeral expenses would certainly help reduce some of the financial strain.
RECOVER: Pam faced an extended recovery in the hospital and inpatient health care settings. From ICU she moved to a couple of transitional care sites to continue her healing and begin rehabilitation. From there she moved in with her son, Jake. As expected, the cost of her care and Jake’s lost wages to care for her has made the last several months even more challenging.
REBUILD: Pam is finally in the rebuild phase. After a lengthy and frustrating insurance battle, and with the help of this Kare 11 news interview, her claim was paid. She was able to have her home restored and finally sold. Pam is now in the process of moving into a place of her own! Her medical care, physical therapy, and mental health therapy continue now and into the long foreseeable future.
THANK YOU! Pam is a survivor and she has come so far- much in part to her fighting spirit, but also because of all of you and your incredible on-going support. Love and gratitude to all who continue to lift up this beautiful woman and her family as they continue on this journey of healing. THANK YOU!
The family has set up a Caringbridge site to help keep friends and loved ones updated on Pam's recovery and progress. Please visit:
Feel free to share this GoFundMe page with others who may want to show support.
*Beneficiary Note: Mark and Pam's daughter-in-law, Beth, is named as the beneficiary as she is managing funds on behalf of Pam at this time.
