Matt Davis & Warrior Dog Foundation

Matthew Iarossi “Matt” Davis (my younger brother), died Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the tender age of 22. Working dogs were his passion. Matt found his home training dogs for military, personal security and law enforcement. He was fearless working with retired military K-9s. But it was his mentors, who were retired veterans, that inspired Matt to become a warrior himself and he had recently begun the military recruiting process as a Marine. 

Over the past few years, Matt became increasingly engrained in the K9 community and had the opportunity to work under Mike Ritland, who fought as a Navy SEAL in Operation Iraqi Freedom and other deployments. Mike created Warrior Dog Foundation in 2013 with the sole purpose of giving back to the Navy SEAL and special operations community. 

Dedicated to transitioning Special Operation Forces (SOF) working K-9 military dogs from an operational environment to a state-of-the-art kennel facility where they receive both mental and physical rehabilitation for the rest of their lives, Warrior Dog Foundation quickly became part of Matt. Whether it was working private-protection dogs or retired dogs that served alongside the military, Matt found extreme pride and acceptance working with this community. 

Although Matt is no longer with us, we can continue to honor him by supporting the causes and organizations that meant so much to him.  For anyone that wishes to honor Matt, please consider donating to Warrior Dog Foundation.  All funds raised with go directly to WDF to support these K9 Warriors.
