Car for Matt & Helen in Iraq

Tax deductible
When we met, my wife had been teaching at a classical school in Kurdistan for almost two years. At that point, I did not really know about the Kurds, or even where they were located on the map! During our engagement, I told my wife that I would ask God to give me a heart for these people, and by the time we were married, He had given me a real love for a people I'd never even met.

In August  2014 we were shocked to hear about the Kurds' suffering under ISIS. We prayed for them, and when we received a call in November asking us to work in a refugee camp, we were more than ready to go. We sold off most of our belongings, packed our lives in three suitcases and headed off in January 2015.

Our team was able to start a school for the refugee children in a surprisingly short amount of time. My responsibilities have increased and our organization is looking for me to be at the camp on a more regular basis. I'll be greeting children before they begin school and getting to know their families. It's exciting work, but we find ourselves in need of reliable transportation at this point. We'd like to raise the funds for a personal vehicle.

A car would:
- Allow me to get to the refugee camp consistently
- Provide a safe mode for transportation when my wife must travel alone
- Avoid the high monthly cost of a reliable taxi driver (about $500, which is only for trips to the camp, not every day shopping and driving)
- Allow us to be more effective in our ministry of visiting people in the community

Thank you for your prayers, support, and partnership!
Because He is gracious, Matt (& Helen)
