We hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out to you during a challenging time. As you probably already know, San Diego was hit with unprecedented and unexpected rainfall on Monday, January 22. In just a few short hours, the space we use to operate and house items for our family business was flooded by several feet of water.
We are humbly asking for your support and generosity as we work to rebuild what has been lost. Our eBay business, which revolves around selling records and collectibles, has been our primary source of income. The flood destroyed over $50,000 dollars worth of carefully sourced records, audio equipment, furniture, and one-of-a-kind irreplaceable vintage items.
If you know Matt Ottley, you know these records weren't just items in an inventory; they were his passion. The loss goes beyond the monetary value of the items. These records held sentimental value, memories of countless hours spent hunting for treasures and the joy of sharing the love for music with others. The floodwaters washed away not just merchandise, but a piece of our family's hard work and identity.
This business has allowed us to remain in San Diego and provide for our little family. As awkward and painful as it feels, we are asking for help.The owner of the building who we rented from did not have flood insurance and there is no way of knowing if or when any government aid will be available.
If you are available to help, whether it be physically, financially, or just spreading the word, it would make a world of difference to us and help us rebuild and restore what was lost. Financial contributions will go directly to the cost of moving what is left of our inventory into a new storage facility.
This flood has impacted so many amazing people we all know. And although other funds and donations have been set up, they will not directly be alleviating our burden.
