The McDonald Family
Tessa and Layton have two beautiful and wonderful children, Hudson and Brynn. Not sure if their family was complete or not they prayed and were open to a blessing. And to much of their surprise- boy were they blessed! At Tessa's 10 week ultrasound they found out they were being blessed with TWINS!!! Shocked. Amazed. Tears of JOY. Tears of OMG!! Never in their wildest dreams did they think their family would be blessed with twins!! Tessa has always dreamt of being a mother and having a full table at the holidays and now her family of four would become six and complete! Big family gatherings and all!!
Being pregnant with twins is very special but can pose certain risks to both mom and babies. At 13 weeks Tessa found out her twins were sharing a placenta and that there were potential risks. One them being Twin to Twin transfusion (TTTS). So she educated herself, read articles and gathered information as this could be a potential risk. At 21 weeks Tessa was informed in fact her twins do have TTTS. She was referred to UCSF Fetal Treatment Center for care.
In the course of 1.5 weeks Tessa and Layton have traveled to San Francisco four times. They are watching the twins very closely. Her latest Ultrasound was Wednesday. She did receive blessings during that visit and the girls hearts are beating strong and they both are not showing signs of distress at this time but it was laid out very clearly how critical her situation is and how closely she needs to be monitored. At this time she does NOT need medical intervention (surgery) to help the TTTS but that can change at anytime. Everyday is a blessing and everyday decisions about Tessa's and the baby girls' health may need to be made.
Tessa has started a blog to help her tell her story and as a source of therapy to write about the girls and their journey and also to save her time and energy. So you can follow along and send her messages of love and support at her blog (https://mcdonaldtwinsblog.wordpress.com)
Due to the increased amount of medical appointments and ultrasounds, Tessa had to come off work earlier then expected. Tess loves her work and passion as a photographer but has now devoted her life to growing her girls. "This is my life right now!" Tess will be 23 weeks on Friday and has a big road ahead of her. She is focusing one day at a time and has made goals for herself along the way.
With increased doctor visits and increased ultrasounds comes with increased costs. Driving to sf two to three times a week, gas, bridge toll, parking is $30/day, food, lost wages from work not including copays! It all adds up fast!
Tessa and Layton have a great support system in their family and friends and now more then ever need us all to help lift them up! If you can help by making a donation to help offset some of the financial burden of medical costs they would greatly appreciate any and all help. If you cannot help financially but can offer them up in prayer they welcome any and all prayers as well! They have given this all to their Heavenly Father and acknowledge that HE has a plan for their girls!
