Hope for McKenzie and Collin
Donation protected
Hello,
These precious twins were born at 28 weeks. Mom spent 7 weeks on hospital bedrest due to multiple bleeding episodes, a vicious dog attack, and even a high-speed car accident. McKenzie's water broke at 20.5 weeks leading to possible chronic lung disease. Her natural birth in the hospital room led to some bleeding in the ventricles of the brain which required a VP shunt. She was born at 2lb 4oz, while Collin was born at 2lb 10 oz. McKenzie was finally weaned off the vent, and came through surgery like the true fighter she is. Collin was very close to getting to go home, but developed an infection in his blood. This requires additional time in the hospital. We are very thankful for these little ones, and know that the trying times have made us stronger as a family. As with anything, we are not sure what the future holds for them, but with your prayers and support, and the love of their family, we know that we will survive the trials (and expensive although necessary medical care) and they will have the best future possible.
Both will go home on oxygen and require frequent intervention to ensure that they develop normally, but at the moment we are very fortunate to be holding them and watching them progress to the best of their abilities.
