Meet the Lane family: My son Dave, his beautiful wife Sally, and my two wonderful grandchildren Stephen and Sydney Grace. A healthy, happy growing family, with the world at their feet. Dad, Dave has been teaching high school for 13 years while also coaching football and track and field. Dave is currently teaching English and Physical Education at Delhi District High School, Delhi, Ontario as well as volunteering over 300 hrs. a year. Dave has been and still is, a mentor for many young men and women in his community. He has also started an athletic training business helping young people to achieve their athletic goals. Needless to say he is very well respected and loved in his community.
In 2008 Dave and Sally started the most important career of their lives when Sally gave birth to son Stephen. Their family was completed with the birth of daughter Sydney Grace in 2010 . They are devoted/loving parents and partners in life.
But, sadly this has all come to an end on August 26th when Dave was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma Esophageal cancer T4 N0 M0. The prognosis for this disease is not good. Doctors have given Dave a 30% chance of surviving the first 2 yrs. and a 2-3% chance of survival after 5yrs. The average lifespan after chemo/radiation in Canada has not changed much since 1970. We have been doing a lot of research and have found various, highly recommended facilities abroad & in the US, that can give him a much greater chance of surviving this disease. Allowing him to see his children graduate elementary school, college, see them get married and hopefully meet their children. This treatment is approx. $50,000.00 US. We need to raise enough money very quickly to get him there, provide accommodations, expenses for travelling companion and ongoing treatment.
Please I beg all of you who read this to open your hearts and your wallets to help save this family from losing their father/husband & friend. Please help us, help Dave to fight this terrible fight and not become another cancer statistic.
If you are unable to contribute financially, we do understand, but please forward this onto all your email contacts, your facebook, your twitter, etc. Every little effort is appreciated.
