Help us pay for Meggy’s emergency dental surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Thea. Together with my husband, we are the servants at Cat Castle, home of 6 rescue cats. All abandoned, some very badly abused.
We moved from the UK to the Netherlands in 2020 and must to our dismay, found out we couldn’t get pet insurance for half of our (at the time) 8 cats. The other half is insured, thankfully.
last year, we lost our 3 uninsured boys and their care has costs us thousands and thousands. We could barely save up before the next situation presented itself.
That’s what’s happening now too.
Megan, aka Meggy, is our beautiful, 15 year old, tortoiseshell girl who needs emergency surgery on the 29th of January, which, as I type this, is tomorrow. She’s been too skinny due to ongoing issues with her teeth and we’ve been working closely with the vet to get her strength back up but we are out of time.
Meggy was diagnosed with Kidney disease in 2020 and we’re in a catch 22. The pain meds she desperately need because of her teeth, is wreaking havoc on her kidneys but to stop the meds, she needs dental surgery that will likely kill her because of her weight.
So the choice is to either risk the surgery, and pray the work we have been able to do until now is enough for her to pull through, or let her go.
We couldn’t live with ourselves if we didn’t give her a fighting chance. She is bright, full of life and REALLY wants to eat but her teeth issue makes it too painful. We have been hand feeding her because she now associates bowls and plates with pain. We feed her little bits, often, sometimes 8-10 times a day.
Meggy’s story is simply not over yet, our girl isn’t done living and anything you can give, will mean the world.
We are normally the ones giving donations, so to ask this now, it’s weird to us.
It’s only due to the encouragement of the Cats of Twitter community, we decided to go for it and for once allow others to help us.
Thank you for your support and please, to whichever god of deity you pray to, please say a little prayer that our beautiful girl survives tomorrow and we get to dote on her a lot longer.
We will post proof of all payments/bills
