The Messamore Family

The Messamore family is a blended family of mom, dad, and a total of 8 children aging from 4 months old to almost 14 years old! Wade Messamore, the father, has worked in EMS for the past 31 years, first as an EMT, then as a Paramedic and 3.5 years ago, he became a Fire Fighter. Wade currently works as the ALS Coordinator for the Acton Fire Department. Crystal has been an EMT since 2008 and is currently a stay at home mom taking care of their children through the chaos of virtual learning for their older children and homeschooling their younger children. Wade was recently diagnosed with an Arnold Chiari Malformation and is having a decompression surgery to fix it. For Wade, they will cut through the muscles in his neck and go into the skull and remove a small portion of the skull and also a small portion of his first vertebrae, C1. Due to covid restrictions, they did not think he’d be able to have this surgery for months, but because his symptoms are escalating quickly, MGH was able to schedule it on Thursday, January 28th. The surgeon has said that Wade will be in the hospital for a few days and home in bed for a couple of weeks and won’t even be able to really do anything, not even holding their baby for the first few weeks. This surgery is known for having a very tough recovery and they don’t know when he’ll be able to go back to work, but it could be several months. The family is going to be struggling to make ends meet and we’re hoping to help them get through this time as smoothly as possible. Anyone who knows the Messamore’s can attest that they are an amazing family, please help if you can and please share this for them. Keep all of your prayers and well wishes coming!!
