Michael DeFlora stroke recovery fund.

My father Michael DeFlora, a community member and single father, suffered a major stroke March 29th. He had it at his sisters house and went to work regularly for 2 weeks, we thought he had vertigo.

He currently goes to Hackensack Meridian Rehabilitation Center in Neptune where he is receives OT, PT and speech working to recover from the damage the stroke caused. The damage being speech, right side facial (Aphasia) effecting his eating & vision, balance causing him the inability to walk independently, strength and writing, etc.

Mike still has his intellect, sense of humor, personality and spirit.

Thou, he has challenges that are very significant and he has a long recovery road ahead of him. He needs your financial support on this journey. It will go to intensive medical therapy, medical care, living expenses, transportation, etc. Meanwhile he can not work. That is the idea behind the gofundme. Your support will make it possible to get Mike to his therapy and services he needs to be independent again, and be back to the community where he will thrive amongst his loving friends.

What happened to Mike.

On March 30th Mike was sent from Urgent Care to Jersey Shore Hospital ER. There they determined through tests that he had a stroke and was admited. Medical treatment was started immediately and is ongoing at home today.

Mike's recovery.

The very beginning of his stroke, it was clear that his love and concern from his family and friends had a drive to recover. He still has a long road ahead of him but has made progress and is willing ti do the work. He deserves to best chances for a full recovery.

My goal with this gofundme is to reach out-to the people to help Mike from the many parts of his life and to raise the necessary funds to support Mike as he goes forward with his recovery. He will need continued OT, PT, and Speech therapies twice a week.He will require assistive living devices, modifications to living spaces and medicines.

He will also need transportation to the facility. In addition, he also will need living expenses while he is unable to work and focuses on recovery and rehab.
