Vet Debt Pay Off for Mikey's Chance Canine Rescue
Last Thursday was the 1 year anniversary of #DoGoodStuffAndBragAboutIt and my wife and I wanted to find a few real, tangible ways to make a difference in our community in one day.
Our wonderful friend Jamie Kincaid was advocating for a local dog rescue, Mikey's Chance Canine Rescue, on Facebook the other day. They’ve got 40 pups they’re caring for at the moment and need tons of help.
Jess and I just bought their entire amazon wishlist. 319 individual items for just under $7,000. The good folks at Mikey’s Chance will be receiving between 40-50 shipments from amazon over the next couple of weeks.
After we reached out to tell them to expect the boxes, we asked to learn more about what they're doing and how we could help. We found out that Mikey's Chance Canine Rescue has incurred 10’s of thousands of dollars in medical debts trying to save beleaguered fur babies.
They’ve racked up so much debt trying to shoulder the load that they can’t take any more medically sensitive animals. Luckily they’re with a great veterinary partner who has let them rack up this tab. But they need to pay off at least half their debt to regain the ability to take in more animals.
My wife and I have pledged to pay down half of their remaining medical debt and fundraise as much of the rest of it as we can by Christmas.
Here's the ask. My wife and I are putting a $20,000 payment on their tab tomorrow which will open up their ability to get veterinary services. Our ask is that you, the community, can help us gather the other half. We need an additional $20,000. Our goal is by Christmas, but we can do this faster. 1,000 parents of fur babies can put down $20 each and make a huge impact on the lives of animals that other organizations just wont take.
We know times are tough. This is a worthy cause.
Let's get it Tri-Cities. This is going to happen.
