Miles for Mental Health
Donation protected
What is Miles for Mental Health?
Through biking, running, hiking, and everything in between, members of our community will come together to raise awareness and fundraise for programs to support mental health through the Canadian Mental Health Association.
For every $2 donated, you can designate one of our athletes to complete 1 mile of physical activity.
A small portion of the donations will go towards the Drop the Puck for Mental Health Foundation's operating budget for our annual charity hockey game and all remaining proceeds will be donated directly to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
How to donate:
After entering your desired donation amount and completing the payment process, you will have the option to leave a comment on the fundraiser page. Please enter the name of the athlete that you'd like to pledge your donation towards, if no name is entered the miles will be automatically assigned among our athletes.

Who are we?
Drop the Puck for Mental Health is a student run philanthropy initiative focused on raising awareness and raising funds to end the stigma surrounding mental health. Over the past 2 years, we have collectively raised and donated over $40,000 to the Canadian Mental Health Association. This in addition to raising mental health awareness by utilizing our platform throughout UBC, and the greater Vancouver area.
Why are we doing this?
We as a society are at an inflection point with added stress due to COVID-19 leading to subsequent rise in mental health issues throughout society, and younger demographics. People are often feeling things are out of their control.
The Canadian government list common feelings during this trying time include :
-a sense of being socially excluded or judged
-concern about your children's education and well-being
-fear of getting sick with COVID-19 or of making others sick
-worry about losing your job, not being able to work or finances
-fear of being apart from loved ones due to isolation or physical distancing
-helplessness, boredom, loneliness and depression due to isolation or physical distancing
The above, along with the ongoing mental health problems students and society currently face, create a meaningful opportunity to invest in mental health initiatives to support those who need it the most. Utilizing the Drop the Puck platform, Miles for Mental health aims to help those in need during this trying time by promoting physical activity, while simultaneously investing in mental health initiatives and programs. Miles for Mental Health strives to celebrate our wonderful community and aims to build awareness, inclusion and acceptance.
