Kim's Kidney Donation Recovery

Donation protected
It has truly taken a village to get to where we are today. Miranda could not have done it without every one of you, and we would love to now show the same love and support to her donor, Kim.

The day has finally come. As we speak, Miranda and her donor are being wheeled into the OR, so that Miranda can finally receive the kidney her life depends on.

Miranda has fought a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis, endured two double lung transplants, and as a result of the trauma she endured from her second lung transplant, now faces stage four kidney disease. She has been on dialysis for the last 3 years searching for a kidney that would give her a new life.

After numerous potential donors and countless medical appointments; her perfect match has arrived.

Miranda's donor is Kim Schweitzer, a 42-year-old mother who grew up in the Fraser Valley area.

Kim was made aware of Miranda's story when she saw Skully's campaign on social media. Skully (pictured above) owns and operates Lullys.dog, a hot dog stand based out of Abbotsford BC. Skully donated a kidney to one of his customers in 2019 and has since been an active advocate for those in need of kidney transplants.
Kim was immediately drawn to the possibility of being able to make such an impact on someone else's life as well.

Like Miranda, Kim is a mother. She has a 14-year-old daughter named Jordyn. Miranda's son Kale, recently turned 15.

Since he was born, Miranda has spent years of her life receiving medical treatment, often having to rely on family to help support and care for her small son.

Kim cherishes the moments she gets to share with her daughter Jordyn and all of the milestones she has had the opportunity to be a part of.

Kim wanted to offer Miranda the opportunity to watch her son turn into a man. High school graduation, world travel, and all of the experiences we take for granted as we watch our children grow.

If Kim could give Miranda the slightest chance at having a longer life with her son, it would all be worth it.

Both Miranda and Kim are anticipated to make quick recoveries and if all goes well, Kim should be able to resume normal life in about 4 short weeks. Although this is a quick turnaround time for someone who has just donated an organ, this is a long time to not be able to work.

The reality is, although there are programs in place to help support donors, it does not cover the expenses of everyday living.
Like every other parent out there, Kim works very hard to provide a life for herself and her daughter.
Kim is giving an amazing gift to Miranda, and we would like her to be able to get the rest she needs to make a full recovery with as little financial stress as possible.

We are asking that if you have been following Miranda's story, or are inspired by Kim's generosity, you can make a small donation to this Go Fund Me so that we can offer Kim the financial support needed to get through this home stretch of their journey.
