-Hey, My name is Christopher K. Jones
More than anything money can buy, I want to help keep a homeless teenager off the streets for my 25th Birthday. I need your help.
In less than a month, I'm turning 25 years old. This year, I want to do something special. So I’m putting myself out there, and raising funds for a service provider for homeless youth in Las Vegas that I volunteer with, and has touched my heart through their work and continuous development to ending a youth homelessness epidemic. The Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth helps the Nevada homeless youth get the tools they need to survive, and build a future for themselves. Approximately 25 percent of the homeless population in Southern Nevada is unaccompanied children and youth (under 24 years old). The leading causes for homelessness among youth include being kicked out of the house, emotional abuse, and financial issues at home. (Source: Homelessness in Southern Nevada General Overview, 2014 )
Being born on the South-side of Chicago, I remember being too young to understand, but feeling, a growing sense of pressure and challenges that the inner-city presented. Growing up with a single mother as a parent, the struggles that I have faced have offered me deep understandings & perspective on how to overcome obstacles, and sometimes, getting help can make a world of difference in choosing the right path. This help has been a gift to me, so it’s a gift I share with others, and I want you to join me. So whether you can help with $25 or $10, I'm grateful for your belief in me and my passion for others.
Lessons in life do not always come easy, but I remember times of mentorship and others believing in me changing my path substantially for the better. Now, I am Las Vegas raised local REALTOR ® at “Luxe Estates and Lifestyles”, who loves his city, and sleeps well knowing others have a safe place to sleep at night that they can call home. I share my own story, because you never know who it may help, so please help me share this fundraiser with friends and family who may be interested
I chose NPHY for being the first full service-provider for homeless youth in Southern Nevada and remaining the most comprehensive organization available. Founded in 2000, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth has committed to serving youth as young as 12 years old, leading community-wide outreach efforts, and launching an innovative program to reunify homeless youth with supportive family members across North America. The way that the staff of NPHY believes in their youth, similar to how others have believed in me, and has made all the difference in my life. So I am asking for your help, Let’s show this organization we appreciate them and what they do.
Our Mission 25 goal is to raise $2500 for NPHY. Summers in Las Vegas cause extreme heat, supplies like water and hygiene kits at the NPHY drop-in center become challenged to meet the high demand necessary for the youth coming in from the constant over-hundred-degree temperatures. This worried me, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Whether you can help with $25 or $10, everything helps.
