A Wedding Gift for our Acting, Producing Future

Donation protected
Hello, we’re so glad you’re here! Whether you are friends and family, people from our social media circles, or complete strangers, we want to thank you for taking the time to be here.

For those who don’t know us, my name is Leonard Moore, and this is my beautiful wife to be Paula Macchi. We are both professional actors who met and fell in love six years ago in the BFA Theatre program at Florida International University.

Now, I’ve popped the question, and we’re getting married on January 14th, followed by moving to California to pursue our dreams.

Because of this huge move, we’ve chosen to forgo a honeymoon and wedding gifts, and we hope that you would consider, instead of a wedding gift, a financial gift in any amount to help us start our new life together.

Before anything, why invest in us..? Who are we?

We’re so glad you asked!

Hi! My name is Leonard James Moore II, and I’ve been a professional SAG-AFTRA actor for the past seven years, along with being a professional writer and producer through my production company Moore Productions LLC. I have my BFA in Theatre and BA in Psychology from Florida International University, with multiple certifications, conservatory training from my time living in New York, and multiple directing fellowships working with the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. As a stage actor, I performed in theaters across New York, including originating a role in a musical, playing Omari in the off-Broadway production of ‘Pipeline,’ and working closely with Freestyle Love Supreme. While as a screen actor, I’ve been in over 30 regional SAG commercials and 4 SAG productions. I’m an avid writer with four feature film scripts, one book of a musical, two pitch-able tv shows (with the pilot), three pitch-able feature film concepts and two anime pitch decks. I’ve always been a big advocate of, if it’s not out there for you, make it yourself. So that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

Hello, my name is Paula Macchi! I’ve been a professional actor for six years, based out of sunny South Florida, with my BFA in Theatre from Florida International University. I’ve performed in countless productions across South Florida, along with being the social media marketing manager for two companies. As a screen actor, I have appeared in over 10+ commercials, seven short films and two feature-length films through my amazing Miami agents. I am also an avid writer with one finished feature film script under my belt, along with my novel book series I’ve been working on for the past two years. My mama always told me growing up, ‘A la suerte hay que ayudarla.’ Which means sometimes, you have to help luck. So that’s exactly what we’re doing!”

We’re inviting you to invest in us. Because for us, this isn’t just a move, it’s our job, and we take our job seriously.

Now, I know… Why is the Goal so high..?

Well, we're moving to California! We have worked hard on our careers and achieved some successes, but California is the place we need to be to pursue and attain our goals.

The goal set for this GoFundMe is the average realistic cost for us to live in LA for one full year, and it is by no means something we’re expecting from here.

Although we’ve been working this past year and a half for our wedding and saving up / preparing for our move to Cali, we’re still short. So, we wanted to be clear about our goal: to help cover the physical move to Cali and help cover the roof over our heads for our first year.

So, here’s the breakdown for the Goal Set:

o $26,000 total avg rent for a year
  • We’re looking to live in West Hollywood, so we’ll be close to the Casting Offices where auditions are held
  • $1,900-$2,100 Current rent per month
  • Around $2,000 security deposit
  • Two examples of ‘Ideal’ Apartments are this 1 Bedroom on Poinsettia Plaza and this 1 Bedroom on Vista Street
o $1,500 Total avg utilities for a year
  • Around $70 for electricity per month
  • Around $47 for gas per month
  • Most apartments cover water
o $4,300 Moving Costs
  • $2,900 15’ U-Haul truck rental (or $2,700 10’ U-Haul truck rental)
  • $450 Car Tow / Auto Transport
  • $950 Gas Cost (15’ Truck: 2,729 mi ÷ 10 mpg x $3.325 current gas price = $907.39 minimum fuel cost or 10’ Truck: 2,729 mi ÷ 12 mpg x $ current gas price = $756.16 minimum fuel cost)

Bonus Content!

In case you're on this journey too, here are some of the things/tools we've researched and use/are going to pursue:
o LA acting classes
o New LA-style headshots
o Agent / Manager pay-to-play showcases
  • Sometimes, it costs money to be seen
  • There are a lot of virtual and in-person showcases for notable casting directors and representation that cost money to participate in
  • Here are some of the platforms that offer this service: Acting and Voice Studios, and The Actors Connection
o Printing out boxes of headshots, resumes, and script samples
  • Although most stuff is online, there is still a lot of potential in the old boots-to-the-ground method
  • Going in person tends to leave a more lasting impression (where walk-ins are accepted)
o The many Conventions and Film Festivals constantly going on in Cali
  • It’s not what you know; it’s who you know
  • California has so many networking opportunities; however, as you know, everything costs money
  • Some conventions and festivals we’re looking forward to are the LA Film Festival, the LA Indie Film Festival, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, California Comic Con, and AVOX (The Actors Voice Over Experience)
o Voice-Over Demo Reels
  • To break into Voice Over and be a great VO actor, we need a fantastic VO demo reel
  • Avg professional demo reels range between $1,000-$2,000
  • Some great potential VO Demo Reel sources are Chuck Duran, Bryant Falk, and Frank Verderosa.
o Our online platforms (including our websites, Casting Networks, Actors Access, Casting Frontier, and IMDB Pro)
o Stage 32 scriptwriting submissions and workshops
