Morgan's Medical Journey- NGGCT Cancer Diagnosis
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Taylor and I am fundraising for my 8-year-old niece, Morgan, who last week received a diagnosis that she had a cancerous brain tumor. On 4/8/2024 the biopsy results have came back and Morgan has Non-Germinomatous Germ Cell Tumors (NGGCT). This type of cancer is rare and only makes up around 1%-3% of intracranial tumors but our girl is strong and she will fight this!
For the past few months Morgan has experienced an extreme loss of appetite, stunt in growth along with excessive thirst and headaches.
Around 3/24/2024 Morgan started experiencing excruciating pain of headache migraines. After trips to the pediatrician and a trip to the ER, blood work was taken which showed that Morgans Sodium level was extremely high, and she needed to go to Nemours Childrens Hospital for further evaluation.
Once arriving at Nemours ER on 4/2/2024, the doctors decided to take an MRI of her brain which showed that Morgan had a mass, a cancerous brain tumor that was also causing Diabetes Insipidus of her kidneys. The location of the tumor, center bottom of her brain next to the Pituitary Gland and Optic Nerve, was blocking the release of fluid from around her brain causing extreme pressure and horrible headaches.
Morgan was then transferred to the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and after a few days of extreme complications, including an emergency surgery to place a drain to allow the release of the pressure in her head, she was finally able to get the brain surgery to remove the tumor on Friday, 4/5/2024.
Morgan has always been a vibrant, loving and selfless child whose world has been turned upside down. Her family, including her twin brother and little brother are staying by her side every step of the way and are there for any support she needs.
She now has a very long road to recovery, including lengthy hospital stays, chemotherapy, radiation and post op care. No donation is too small, and every dollar is very much appreciated to help pay for her extensive medical treatment and the costs that go along with it.
Thank you for your time!
