Cloughjordan Move the Mast Action Group
Donation protected
Eir’s proposal to erect a mast in the heart of Cloughjordan and adjacent to our schools and homes is unacceptable.
We are not opposed to improved telecommunication in Cloughjordan – interconnectivity is vital, and we know improved broadband can bring positive growth to our community.
But a balance must be found, and where children’s health is at stake, a precautionary principle must be applied. This location is wholly inappropriate for this development.
The proposed placement of this mast demonstrates that Eir don’t care about our community, our children, or about meaningful consultation with stakeholders.
As concerned citizens, we intend to denounce, litigate, and take action against this proposal until it is reversed.
We are partnering with FP Logue, an environmental law firm in Dublin, to seek a judicial review of An Bord Pleanala's approval of this mast. This will cost 10,000 euros, plus VAT. Almost every cent raised will go toward paying for the judicial review, and a small portion will go towards paying for the costs associated with running a campaign, such as printing flyers and banners.
Our treasurer, Julie Sugrue, will ensure all funds are allocated appropriately. Any leftover funds will be donated to the Parents' Association of St. Michael's NS.
