Marilyn Jenkins or "Ms. Marilyn", as she liked to be called, was truly a pillar within her community.  She dedicated her life to serving others by being a Private Duty Nurse. From providing children after-school care through the organization of P.A.L of Brooklyn, NY to just being a great person to talk & relate to.  After spending the majority of her life in New York, from Queens to Brooklyn, she relocated to the charming town of Bennettsville, SC.

While in Bennettsville, she quickly became a force to be reckoned with.  It's almost impossible to simply list things or characteristics that she was known by.  Her essence of who she was undoubtedly made her an incredible person.  Things such as: hosting dances for the neighborhood youths, caring for the elderly via her nursing career, volunteering at nursing homes, helping promote small businesses, and providing a good joke & a plate of food (comfort) are some examples of how she expressed the love she had in her heart for others.

Sadly, after being so much to so many people she had to suffer a lot.  Losing her mother, Ms. Lottie McLamb, in June of 2008 followed by losing her only son, Anthony L. Jenkins, in October of 2010, left her with a broken heart that seemed to manifest physically in the form of illness.  In September of 2012, she suffered from a debilitating stroke that left her bound to a whellchair and without use of the entire left side of her body.  Once that occurred she was taken in to receive care and lots of love by her daughter,  Marilyn Bynum.

After living a pretty comfortable life considering her condition she was struck with another blow in October of 2014 with a diagnosis of Stage 3 Lung Cancer.  The cancer that she was diagnosed with was very aggressive and within a month had advnaced to Stage 4 Lung Cancer.  Because of who she was, she put up the fight of her life with undergoing radiation treatment everyday for 8 weeks. On Friday February 20th of 2015, she passed away due to complications from Cancer.

Due to the fact that she had an pre-existing condition she was not able to obtain any life insurance to help cover for her final expenses.  Since she gave so much of herself to others, whole-heartedly, it would be fitting that we rallied together to give her the best "Homegoing Service" possible!  I thank you in advance!
