The Nazareth Housing Junior Board is raising funds this #GivingTuesday to support Nazareth Housing, a community-based homelessness prevention nonprofit serving families across the five boroughs of New York City. The Junior Board is proud to be a champion of the critical services at Nazareth Housing that help families create a path out of homelessness. From eviction prevention services to financial coaching and food security, Nazareth Housing helps every family build a life filled with prosperity and opportunity.
The Nazareth Housing Junior Board’s keystone project is the monthly Reading Club, where Junior Board members share the joys of reading with Nazareth Housing’s youngest residents. The benefits of reading to children have been shown to increase vocabulary, improve speech skills, develop advances literacy skills, improve reading comprehension, and increase empathy. The Reading Club is a significant part of Nazareth Housing’s wide array of workshops and educational resources to help families build strong foundations for success.
Here’s what your donation could provide:
$25: Provide infant supplies for a baby in shelter
$50: Fuel the furniture donation van
$100: Sponsor a child for one week of Little Creatures Act out Theater Camp
$150: Provide new books to five children at Nazareth Housing
$250: Feed five families for one week through Louise’s Pantry
