Newport Sea Base Rowing
Tax deductible
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising funds for Newport Sea Base Rowing, a 501(c) (3) non-profit community-based rowing organization, that relies on tax-deductible donations. NSBR works hard to keep participation fees as low as possible to keep barriers of entry to a minimum in this cost-intensive sport. Your donation will make an impact and will help me reach my personal goal of at least $400. Our fundraiser finale is a team-building Erg-a-thon Event on Saturday, February 1st, with awards for team & personal bests, and for reaching our fundraising goals.
Rowing at NSBR has been a great experience. It has taught me invaluable life lessons. If you want to succeed, be there for your teammates. Wake up at 4:30 am in the cold and dark, knowing if you don't show up the whole team cannot row. If things do not go right, do not point fingers and criticize, row your seat. Work together. Focus on the little things at the start, your technique, catching the water at the right angle, then build-up to the big win. And ultimately, the difference between winning and losing is in harmony with your teammates. Rowing has taught me these lessons and now I would like to give back.
There are many costs associated with rowing. An eight-oared rowing boat costs approximately $45,000. Plus, unlike most field or gym sports, our coaches must have working motorboats and gasoline to coach us on the water. Currently, each person on the competitive junior team pays close to $3,000 a year in dues but this does not cover all the costs to operate the program.
Get to know Newport Sea Base Rowing and the Newport Sea Base Facility:
+ Newport Sea Base is owned and operated by the Orange County Council, Boys Scouts of America (OCBSA).
+ The Newport Sea Base facility is the largest youth-focused boating and maritime education center in California.
+ NSB serves more than 5,000 youth each year, with a turnstile attendance of 53,000+ a year!
+ The Newport Sea Base Rowing program has 80 youth and over 40 adults involved in competitive and recreational programs in this Olympic sport.
+ The mission of Newport Sea Base is to provide access to boating and marine education programs to as many families as possible in the community.
Your support of NSBR directly funds capital purchases of the right equipment to be successful; helps provide scholarships to deserving youth; and offsets the cost of high-quality coaching and conditioning experts.
This year, NSBR needs funds to purchase equipment such as coaching launches, indoor rowing machines and for other operational needs. Your financial contribution at this time is essential and greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me!
