Hello, my name is Yordanka Fernandez, I am the mother of Nicholas Katrib.
Nicholas was born at only six months weighing only one pound. His preterm birth caused a cerebral palsy, ventricular bleeding, and many other complications including severe visual problems. Nicholas survived approximately four days without placenta without oxygen without food.
Nicholas has always demonstrated his will to live! He is a fighter and has been subjected to several eye surgeries, hernia sand surgery in his legs. Despite the surgeries on his legs and unlimited therapies Nicholas has failed to walk and be independent.
Researching I found a hospital in Chicago IRC in which they specialize in children like Nicholas. They offer an intensive treatment that promises the possibility that Nicholas can walk but it is expensive and his insurance does not cover it.
I am pleading to the community to help Nicholas achieve his only dream of walking. It breaks my heart everytime he asks me, "Mama, why am I different? Why can’t I walk like the other kids?" Nicholas is an eight year-old boy with many limitations. It is very sad to see a child want to play like other kids and not be able to.
On behalf of Nicholas, I ask you to help him fulfill his dream of walking by donating any amount possible to allow him an opportunity to receive this life changing intensive treatment.
