Nicholas Taylor Leukemia Fund
Donation protected
Nicholas Taylor is 6 years old. He has been fighting leukemia since he was 2. During the induction phase of his treatment his immunities were low and he contracted a fungal infection that damaged his eye. Nick has spent hundreds of days in the hospital undergoing harsh treatments for both his leukemia and mucormycosis ( fungal infection).
Nicholas was diagnosed at Hurley Children’s Hospital in Flint ,Michigan and then transferred to Detroit Children’s Hospital during which family members commuted daily. After spending 5 months in Detroit, Nicholas was transferred to Miami’s Holtz Children’s Hospital. Both his parents and older brother all moved away from Michigan to be with Nick. Nicholas has never been without a family member during this very long and difficult time. His dad, Chris gave up his dream job as a Firefighter to be with Nick. It has been a huge financial as well as mental and physical burden on the whole family. Yet, the Taylors always say that Nick is a miracle every day.
In April of this year, Nicholas was sent home to Hospice. His doctors believed that Nick would be overcome with his cancer rather quickly. Yet, Nicholas continues to defy the odds with his sweet, humorous , insightful and very strong demeanor.
Now that he is no longer homebound (to avoid germs) and not in the hospital, Nicholas’ wish is to travel to Michigan to visit with his many cousins, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunties and uncles. Unfortunately after 4 years of scrimping and unable to keep full-time employment due to staying with Nick in the hospital or administering IV infusions day and night , the family just doesn’t have the funds to make Nick’s dream come true.
The goal of this campaign is to assist the Taylors return to Michigan for a visit , and with lost wages and other expenses.
Like many of you, I wish to help ease this family's burden and give them as much peace of mind as possible as they face the incredible challenges that lie ahead.
