Nico's 26th Charity Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi everyone! I don’t think a sermon about all that is going on right now is necessary, so let me get straight to it. Over the next 7 days until my 26th birthday, my wish is that we can raise at least 5,000 dollars for the 5 charities listed below and do a little good in a country I love dearly, but is fundamentally broken. I personally will match up to 2,000 dollars in donations distributed evenly among the 5. I have posted a little about them and provided links as well. If you choose to donate and would like your money to go somewhere specific in regards to the 5 picked out, please let me know and I will make sure the money you contributed is directed appropriately. And remember, no one has ever become poor by giving.
World Central Kitchen -Set up by famous Spanish chef, Jose Andres, this is a great organization that delivers meals to those who need it in various locations around the US. He specifically has done great work in my hometown of Washington D.C during Covid as well. https://wck.org/
FLY - This is a program I volunteered at for two years. I taught classes to youth about the law and was a part of their mentorship program where I was assigned to a young man who at the time was incarcerated. Their mission is to prevent juvenile crime and incarceration and focus in the Bay Area. https://flyprogram.org/
ACLU- The most famous organization on this list and one that my mother and grandmother donate to monthly. The ACLU has been one of the strongest non-profits and I highly encourage you to read about and look into the array of issues they work on. https://www.aclu.org/
The Conscious Kid - An education, research, and policy organization that works with underrepresented and oppressed youth all around the country. They do amazing work around education and provide access to culturally relevant books for children all over the country. https://www.theconsciouskid.org/
Greenscheme- A Washington D.C organization that was recommended to me by one of my oldest friends. They work specifically with kids in Ward 8 through an environmental lens and have great programs like Corner Water that teach entrepreneurship and business to young kids. http://www.greenscheme.org/
