Trusted Souls Initiative-Honoring Nikola Markovic

In loving memory of our son and brother, Nikola Markovic, a unique soul who touched the lives of all who knew him.

Nikola was born in Ottawa on December 13, 2000, to his parents Marija and Savo, as a twin brother to his sister Mila and two older brothers, Damjan and Luka. He completed his schooling in Ottawa, showing interests in math, visual arts, music, and sports. Nikola enjoyed history and traveling to countries tied to his Eastern European roots. He competed in swimming, soccer, and track and field.

In the fall of 2020, he began a program at Prague University of Economics and Business. The pandemic interrupted his studies, and later, imposed social isolation heavily impacted his emotional well-being.

On January 26, 2024, Nikola passed away, leaving a void in the hearts of his friends and family. With his passing we felt a strong desire to pay tribute to his memory by organizing the Trusted Souls Initiative.

Through the Trusted Souls Initiative, Nikola's spirit lives on, providing hope and healing to those who need it most. May his memory be a blessing, and may his legacy inspire others to seek help, develop trust, and never lose hope in connecting with others.

The funds raised will be donated to Mental Health Research Canada in his memory to help Nikola and others suffering from mental health challenges find lasting peace.
