“Ryan is a beloved and invaluable member of our community, and we want to support him in any way possible!” - student testimonial

Hi, my name is Ryan (fka Russell from Nomad Medix) and I have almost $20,000 in credit debt with less than $300 in my bank. While that may not sound like a lot to some, it feels overwhelming as an unemployed, neurodivergent houseless person and I need your help.

Going from being a mascot and pro wrestler teaching 15 yoga classes a week in 2019 to living in my car in 2021 has been a lifestyle shift that I’ve never fully recovered from. My financial burden started building while supporting social justice causes and my health has deteriorated, leading to physical therapy and CT scans stemming from my current living situation. In addition to my physical ailments, I’ve also been trying to navigate recent diagnoses of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and autism. I have applied to entry level jobs in multiple industries without being able to secure steady work, sometimes due to not having a permanent residential address.

Despite all this, the dramatic change in my life gave me new purpose and passion in the form of preparedness training. Since 2020 I have earned first aid certifications (Stop the Bleed, Mental Health First Aid, Advanced First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, Tactical Emergency Casualty Care), taken wilderness classes (Camp Cooking Basics, Pack Your Pack, Backpacking Stoves and Water Treatment, Map & Compass), and firearm trainings (Basic Pistol, Self Defense in the Home, AR Basic Platform, Intermediate Pistol). Learning all of these skills on top of the fitness I already knew (kickboxing, yoga, calisthenics, TRX, kettlebells) has given me a broad and valuable skill set to share with others.

I’ve supported marches and encampments from Portland, OR to Los Angeles, CA, distributed supplies with countless mutual aid groups, led in person first aid and self defense classes, and just came back from providing humanitarian aid in Tucson, AZ. While stable housing is still just a fantasy for now, any financial aid that you or your organization are able to provide will help me towards my goals of paying down massive credit debt, continuing to create online content, starting a sustainable LLC, traveling the continental United States to teach more classes, and even advancing my own medical training level to potentially volunteer internationally.

I love listening to podcasts to keep me company, watching movies on the big screen to get out of my car, and going to theme parks for a safe place to walk around. My current circumstances are not what I want out of this life and any help that you can offer gets me closer to being back on my feet. Thank you for hearing my story.
