Help Restore and Preserve Northville's Historic Log Cabin

Tax deductible
With your help we have now raised enough money to move the cabin, so it has been saved from demolition. We still need your help to raise $60,000 to restore it and construct a picnic shelter that will be the entrance to the Northville Riverwalk Park and the newly daylighted Rouge River that has been submerged for about 60 years. The actual cabin move will begin the week of July 15.

With your support, the Northville River Restoration Task Force will transform Mary Gilbert's 1930s Log Cabin into a cultural gem—a historic public showcase and welcome center at the heart of the Downs River Park in Northville, Michigan.

Uncover the rich history of our river, explore innovative log cabin construction, and immerse yourself in the inspiring life of Mary Gilbert. Her remarkable story as a teacher during the turn of the century, her resilience in the face of deafness, and her compassion for the less fortunate in the Great Depression will come alive within these walls. Imagine the countless stories this cabin has witnessed over nearly nine decades—a true testament to the enduring spirit of Northville.

Your support will make this historic landmark a centerpiece, enticing residents and visitors alike. Join us as we honor Mary Gilbert's legacy and preserve this heartwarming piece of our community's history for generations to come.

Thank you for your support.
