Nurse Nissa's Australian Adventure

Hi Everyone!

I have the incredible honor of being selected as a 2013 International Scholar Laureate to participate in a Student Delegation on Nursing in AUSTRALIA(!!) this May. Out of the thousands of nursing students across the country, my academic achievements and leadership skills have landed me in the Top Ten percentile of this incredible body of students. It is not a position, selection or nomination that I take lightly.

Many of you know that I am losing my job to pursue this dream and be able to help my family with my nursing knowledge when the time comes. Nursing is my heart. Nursing is my passion. Every day I attend a class or a clinical I know that this path is where I'm supposed to be. One day what I'm learning now will allow me to help a multitude of families, touching each one with the gifts I have, in their greatest time of need. I plan to be right by their side, filling those needs to the best of my ability.

If you know me you also know that when I'm in need, I have a hard time asking for help. It's time for something different. I need your help.

I will be receiving college credit for participating in the Delegation. In all the total costs are just over $5100. This price includes airfare to and from Australia. It also includes tuition, room & board, most meals, transportation in-country, taxes, tips and books. While in Sydney I will be learning about Australia's universal health care system at some of the top hospitals in the country. I will have the unique opportunity to discuss cross-cultural issues, perform on-site explorations and work alongside some of the top doctor's and nurses Australia has to offer. Some of those explorations are specifically geared toward neonatal care and Australian midwifery.

This is an incredible opportunity that I would love to participate in and bring the knowledge I gain back to the States. If you also believe in my dream, thank you in advance for sowing a financial seed into my educational endeavors!!
