RV Breakdown! Need help getting back on the Road!
Donation protected
Hey Everyone! It's Eric from The Off Grid Guru Channel on Youtube. Pops and I are on another adventure and this time we broke down on the road and need some support!
Click "Read More" Below for all the details!
This summer, we took a big step toward living the Off Grid Dream ( AKA my father's retirement plan ) by attempting to transport our vintage motorhome from New York back to New Mexico.
The goal is to create a place for him to live while we build on our land, saves us money $$$ so we can afford the construction of his permanent home.
However, last week we broke down in Indiana during a rainstorm and had to abandon the vehicle. We returned the next day to discover that it was missing because the State Police impounded the vehicle. :(
We paid the impound fee and left it with the nearest mechanic. At a friend's house in Chicago, we spent half a week calling mechanics and tow companies getting quotes and came up with a plan...
To make a long story short, we got it towed over 200 miles to our friend's neighborhood in the Chicago area where it currently sits with a trustworthy mechanic, waiting for repairs.
Fortunately, we can stay in Chicago while we figure out what to do next and how to afford all of this!
Right now we are forced to pay these EXPENSES using CREDIT just to keep the wheels rolling.
Spending money WE DON’T HAVE…
Now that doesn’t sound sustainable, does it? That's why we are asking for support!
How much do we need? How will the Funds be used?
Every penny we get will go towards paying off the DEBT we are accumulating on this trip.
The major expenses are repairs, towing, hotel and impound fees.
***GoFundMe takes a transaction fee (2.9% + $0.30 per donation) applied to the funds, so we have to account for that too.
How does this GoFundMe Campaign work?
Normally I would spend months coming up with rewards for all of our supporters… At that time we raised over eight thousand dollars on Kickstarter to launch an innovative product.
However, that campaign was years in development and required shipping rewards all over the world to 180 backers….
It was an All-or-Nothing Fundraiser, we had to reach our goal or get nothing… PLUS we paid Kickstarter a hefty fee $$$
This time it's different… So we have decided to choose GoFundMe because we get ALL of the donations you send, if we reach our goal or not.
The bottom line is…We need all the help we can get right now and don't have the time to create some elaborate rewards campaign.
We are asking for your support because you want to see us succeed! Not because we are mailing you some nice toy...
So what do you say? Anything helps
