Collin A.C. Please help support migrants in Oaxaca, Mexico

Tax deductible

DONATIONS ENTIRELY FOR COLLIN A.C.

For so many migrants hope is all they have.

These families are fleeing extreme poverty, violence, exploitation by gangs, unscrupulous police, and all they want is to live in a place of safety and to have the ability to support their families.

I cannot begin to comprehend the courage it must take to leave all that is familiar and walk into the unknown.

And walk they do, until exhaustion sets in and they must rest. Sadly, in Oaxaca, there is no safe place to sleep and replenish themselves.

Since August 2023, Collin, A.C. has been providing support to migrants as they journey through Oaxaca.

From a very small kitchen, volunteers prepare food, offer drinking water, first aid, clothing, shoes and phone charging.

Over all this time we have witnessed the stresses and dangers migrants face while sleeping in the streets and parks.

Every human being deserves respect and to be treated with dignity. We wanted to do more!

After many months of searching, Collin, A.C. has now leased a building that will be used to provide shelter to the most vulnerable families. Our lease is for 1 year, and renewable for 5 years.

This new shelter has a capacity to house up to 150 people, and priority will be to offer shelter to women, children and families travelling together.

The Oaxaca Lending Library Foundation is organizing this fundraiser for the Collin, A.C. shelter.

All of the funds raised in this GoFundMe campaign will be used to cover Collin, A.C. shelter expenses.

Now that we have found an appropriate building to use as a shelter, our operating costs, including monthly rent, have increased significantly.

Your donations will be used to pay the monthly rent, the start up and operating costs of the shelter, providing 2-3 meals per day, medicines, medical assistance, bedding for up to 150 people and to purchase needed furniture and appliances. Donations will allow us to install 5 more toilets, 2 new showers, install safety railings and create sleeping quarters downstairs and on the terrace.

How can you help?
