Mobility Van for Officer Vasquez

LAPD Police Officer Juan Vasquez has dedicated over 23 years of his life serving and protecting the Los Angeles community. He suffered severe injuries while on duty that caused him years of chronic pain, surgeries, and partial paralysis, which left him dependent on wheelchair and/or electric scooter for majority of his mobility.
He continued to work through it all, with his sister's support. His sister took care of their mother, as well as their brother who is also wheelchair dependent. His sister's health has deteriorated and now faces the risk of amputation.
In October 2016, Officer Vasquez was diagnosed with liver cancer along with non-alcoholic cirrhosis. He began chemotherapy treatment while awaiting a liver transplant, which will take place in Florida, as the wait time is 6 months versus 2 years locally. His doctors do not think he will survive the two year wait in Los Angeles. He has already used his 100 percent sick time, and was down to 75 percent sick time. He returned to work despite feeling weak and nauseous from the chemotherapy, as he cannot afford the 25 percent pay cut.
Going to Florida to undergo a liver transplant will complicate his family situation financially. They have been helping each other thus far. However, with him going to Florida, he cannot help his family physically, nor will he be able to afford paying the mortgage of the family home. Additionally, his vehicle which the family depends on for transportation to their doctor appointments is old and has multiple mechanical issues. He requires a vehicle that is equipped with a ramp, and is large enough to hold all three electric wheelchairs.
Sadly, Officer Vasquez was just given devastating news that his liver cancer has now spread to his kidneys.
Your generous donation will be greatly appreciated. The money raised will be used to purchase a mobility van, and any remaining fund will assist Officer Vasquez in paying his mortgage.
