Kitten "Oscar Colohan" Femur Surgery
A feral little kitten was running around our friend's back yard for some time, alluding live catch traps and terrorizing the neighborhood. Then, while taking out the trash, our friend found the little ferocious thing at the bottom of the trash can. Some bitting and clawing later and we have "rescued" Oscar.
Having an overabundance of animals our friend asked us to help. We took the injured kitten to the vet and they found a large abscess on his rear as well as severe infection and fever. We started him on antibiotics and started blood work when we discovered that the abscess was from a femur fracture quite high up on the leg very close to the head of the femur.
So now that we have fallen in love with the now calm, curious, and cuddly Oscar we feel we have no choice but to get him fixed up so that he may enjoy a long healthy kitty life.
Unfortunately, good samaritanism does not pay well in our great nation. We had Oscar evaluated by all of the best Vets in the Ventura area and only one is willing to treat a fracture so far up the femur. He has quoted us a range of $4100 to $4800 to treat him at VetSurg.
We have drained the abscess and we are fighting the infection. We want Oscar in tip-top shape for his surgery to fix his leg.
I thank you for taking the time to read about Oscar and I hope that you will find it in your heart to help us out in making sure Oscar lives a happy healthy life with both little legs to propel him forward.
