Our Double Trouble (not to make light, but laughter IS the best medicine, right?)
Our delightful kitchen manager ripped our family business off of over 10 thousand dollars and bounced. And he really was delightful, seemingly beyond reproach. He manipulated the staff with near genius and charmed his way into our trust.
We've additionally had the misfortune to be one of the businesses hit by Fremont's arson attacks on 12/24, along with Habitude Spa, Sfingiday, and Red Star Taco Bar. Luckily, our amazing firefighters were in top form and it's such a blessing that no one was hurt.
We're proceeding properly and legally to deal with the theft and check fraud but were left strapped for cash because of it when this second blow struck us. Our staff, our family here, is struggling with the uncertainty and with the sudden loss of income. And the loss of income for the restaurant during this extended period of closure is going to make it more difficult to come back strong, but we are absolutely determined to do so. We are so in love with the neighborhood of Fremont and we want to be a continuing part of the story that the Center of the Universe has to tell.
It's been hard not to face this time with bitterness, and I have to admit, we did give in to it for a bit. To have been taken advantage of by someone we trusted was difficult and to have then been targeted by a stranger made it feel like Murphy's Law had us in a bullseye. But natural and true optimism has reinstated itself and we are really looking forward to re-opening with flair! And I know, with absolute certainty that there are so many great people and that we get to work with some of the best of them!
Like Kristen, who freaking rocks! My god woman, you are a solid stone wall to lean on! For those who don't know, Kristen is my GM and she's been here from the beginning and she says she'll be here to the end. WTF? Who gives that much?
And Sarah, my bar 'rhymes with witch" (there, better FB and Instagram?)! We be witches together, we don't take shite! Well, sometimes we do, sometimes for too long. But then we go Valkyrie on their butts!
Jackie, my love, another one who gives her freaking heart! This girl has been thrown into this toxic situation and her loyalty was pushed to the limit.
And Juan. What a ray of sunshine you are, nothing gets you down, or if it does, you just keep that positive attitude. What a love! And without a doubt the Karaoke King, as well!
And Ceilidh, our amazing girl who jumped her little vegetarian self into learning to make a burger to help out. And a damn fine one, too! I'm looking forward to her joining us in the kitchen, especially with baking.
So optimism is our Word of the Day. We've been bowled over by the community support already shown and are so grateful for both past and future help! Thank you all and we can't wait to see you all when we re-open!
