Owen's Superhero Heart

Owen makes our lives so wonderful! He is happy, silly, and full of life. He loves gymnastics, SUPERHEROS, and swimming!
Owen was born with HLHS, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, or half a heart. He has had three palliative open heart surgeries (Norwood, Glenn, and Tricuspid Repair) that allowed him to survive with his broken heart. We travel to Stanford every three to six weeks for cardiac caths and clinic appointments. On July 17, 2013, Owen received the best gift of all… a new heart! He recovered well and did amazing until April 9th, 2015, when he went into severe acute rejection and spent 13 days on ECMO (life support). We have tried to heal his heart to no avail.
This last Tuesday, May 24th, Owen had a coronary stent procedure to buy him some time while he is relisted for a second heart transplant. Yesterday, May 25th, Owen went into cardiac arrest. He was rushed into surgery, and miraculously, surgeons were able to remove the clot around his new stent. Owen is still in very critical condition, while he is rapidly being placed on the transplant list.
While some of you may be reading Owen’s story for the first time, many of you have followed Owen’s story and have cried both frightful tears, as well as tears of joy with us. Thank you so very much for your love and prayers! Many of you asked how you can help. We are now reaching out to ask if any of you will PLEASE donate, whatever money you are able, toward our families’ travel costs, food, hotels, gas, etc.,. Anything will help us at this point as we sit together with our Owen and wait.
Thank you again for your love, prayers, and support!
