We are a non-profit Nature Sanctuary and Earth Retreat Center, located in Willow, Alaska, where people can come out to "The Land" and celebrate the changing of the seasons and create a relationship with others and the earth that sustains us.
Our work of five years was totally destroyed by the Sockeye Wildfire on June 14, 2015.
We are committed to rebuilding our center and sanctuary forest grounds in order to serve the greater community.
The Land was purchased to give people a place to connect to the Earth and to their spirituality. Work began five years ago , with volunteers creating clearings for gathering and camping using hand tools. Over the years countless hours of volunteer work and thousands of dollars from the community allowed us to build four beautiful cabins, a pressurized pump and well-house, some very sturdy and well-appointed outhouses, several gorgeously landscaped gathering areas, clearings for camping, and locations for small classes and group workshops.
All of the structures and amenities were lost. We also had our construction tools and equipment such as generators, chainsaws, and carpentry materials at the site. Because we had to evacuate so quickly we were unable to take any items with us, they were destroyed as well. Our community is devastated by this event.
We've lost in minutes what five years of effort took to create. We will rebuild. This is not the end. But we can't do it alone.
