PGC Holiday Fundraiser 2022

Pittsburgh Girls Choir is delighted to return to a full season of in-person rehearsals and concerts this year! We are excited to announce the return of our All-Choir Holiday Concert on December 3, which highlights the singers of every PGC ensemble and will feature John Rutter's Cycle of Carol's: Dancing Day. This holiday season, also join our two most advanced choirs, Chamber Choir and Concentio, on December 10 for our first holiday Candlelight Concert "Transeamus" (meaning "to cross over"). This concert was created to transport our audience out of the chaos and craziness of the holiday season and to envelop them with beauty and peace. Guest harpist, Nuiko Waden, will be featured in both Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols and John Rutter's Dancing Day. The concert will conclude with Dan Forrest's ethereal Silent Night with violinist, Leah Givelber.
Britten composed Ceremony of Carols in the dark days of the Second World War as an expression of hope and belief in a better future. Originally written for children's choir, he conceived of the piece literally as the voice of that future.
Like Britten himself, Pittsburgh Girls Choir believes in a bright future. We believe, like Britten, that music is hope. We believe that music education enriches students’ lives, now and in later life.
We believe that everyone should have that opportunity, and our tuition is adjusted according to household income so that every girl who wants to sing with us can join us, whatever her family resources. That isn’t an easy commitment for a small arts education program, but it is our commitment. Because of support from generous donors like you, we are able to ensure that our doors remain open to any girl who wants to sing.
Please help us hold the door open.
The Pittsburgh Girls Choir is committed to artistic excellence and performance through an exemplary music education program, and welcomes girls of all races, ethnicities and economic backgrounds into our supportive community.
