The Issue:
The Coronavirus Pandemic has impacted billions of people worldwide – sickening millions, killing tens of thousands and halting the global economy. Small businesses in the US are suffering - their doors are closed, bills are piling up and the future is in doubt. The frontline in the battle is being manned by heroic first responders, nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals who are risking their lives to treat the millions of patients nationwide while working overtime in overcrowded hospitals without enough equipment or assistance. Restaurants employ 10% of the US workforce nationally, with over 16 million employees. Nearly all restaurants have laid off the majority of their staff and closed down because of insufficient demand. This, in turn, has impacted the first responders and healthcare workers who cannot access food while on the job, especially late at night, making it harder for the essential workforce in the medical and public service industries to effectively do their jobs – and be the heroes of this crisis. This is prevalent during the late hours of the night as delivery options and store availability is minimal. If a nurse or a first responder has a 30-minute break we want them to get good food quickly. Shelves are being emptied in supermarkets making it harder for the elderly to get the things they need and impacting those that cannot prepare meals for themselves. We believe with a little help from each of us, we can solve both of these problems.
The Plan:
Our goal is to connect restaurants with hospitals, police/fire stations, and nursing homes to make sure they have the food they need. The money raised here will be going to restaurants in close proximity to these centers of essential work to prepare and deliver meals. There are Nurses, Doctors, Police Officers and many more people that put their life on the line during this time and we want to help them get what they need so they don't have to stress about their food source as well. This will also revitalize restaurants and help millions of employers that can't get enough customers to stay in business. We will be focusing on the following areas: New York, New Jersey, Michigan, and California – which feature some of the hardest-hit cities and states nationwide.
Funding Goal: $126,000
Since we don't know how long this virus will linger we are unsure if $126,000 will be enough to sustain our mission but it will be enough for the coming weeks. We plan on beginning meal deliveries on Tuesday, March 14th.
Who are we?
We are a group of financiers who have dealt with a wide range of small businesses country- wide including many restaurants and healthcare businesses. We want to do our small part to help the frontline workers survive these challenging times. We have offices in New York, Los Angeles and Detroit, Michigan and will be dedicating our staff to sign up those in need and find restaurants to fill the orders. Together we can change the course of this Pandemic and come through these challenges stronger.
