NEW GOAL! Shelters for Standing Rock!
"This economical and easy to assemble housing design by Paul Cheoketen Wagner is in high demand at Standing Rock. Insulation can be made from salvaged plastic water bottles, a resource in abundance. We have the budget and materials to create many shelters, and now we need more volunteers to build them! Six have been completed for water protectors, native elders and their families. The elder of Sacred Stone has requested one as shelter for schoolchildren on the reservation side of camp. Please come out if you can, or direct volunteers to Cheoketen, myself, Andy Clark, Danielle Gennety or others on our crew. Winter is coming. Water is Life!"

Why?
I am a traveler and an avid life-liver who is currently living in the Pacific Northwest. I stand as an ally for Indigenous People in the face of social injustice and environmental degradation.
As the events at Standing Rock escalated in the last week, I contemplated the insanity of the situation and how the people who live on those lands have experienced non-stop warfare since white people came to this continent. I felt like I wasn't doing enough, sitting here in Seattle and just posting about it.
I decided to go. I wanted to see events on the ground and report back to people I know who may not have a strong connection with the struggle for indigenous rights and the inherent racism. I wanted to lend my physical energy to help in whatever way is needed.
I have a small window of time before my new job starts on Nov 14. I have no car so I am flying to Fargo Friday, 4 November and renting a van to fill with supplies to drive to the camp. I need your help to purchase those supplies.
None of the funds will go towards my travel expenses.
I am deeply thankful for your support.
