Pure Table Top will be fundraising for two worthy charities over the next two years, both being personal to colleagues within the company.
Pancreatic Cancer UK is here for people now, funding research and campaigning to improve the future, determined to transform the outlook for everyone with the disease. Their vision is that everyone with pancreatic cancer survives to live long and well.
Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer. Half of people diagnosed die within 3 months. Survival rates have remained at less than 7% in the past 50 years. People are diagnosed too late: too late for treatment; too late to survive. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, but sadly, for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case.
What Pancreatic Cancer UK do:
Providing specialist support and information, including the pancreatic cancer support line run by friendly specialist nurses which helps around 2,000 people a year.
Funding ground-breaking research into new treatments and early diagnosis – with PCUK only receiving 3% of the UK cancer research budget.
Campaigning for change to find ways to improve and speed up diagnosis and develop faster treatment - survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers but sadly for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. PCUK is campaigning to change that.
Support for health professionals together as a pancreatic cancer community, sharing best practices, learning from others and being a force of change.
Lupus UK is the only National Charity which supports people with the immune system illness Lupus. Empowering people by providing information about Lupus and offering support, so their voices are heard and their condition diagnosed and managed effectively. Their vision is for a world where people with Lupus can live full and active lives.
Diagnosis of Lupus can take an average of 6 years, which is a long time to be suffering. It is never straightforward, the real cause is still far from clear and the symptoms can vary widely from day to day in any one sufferer.
What Lupus UK do:
Funding Specialist Lupus Nurses within the NHS, seeking a commitment that these posts will become permanently funded by the Hospital Trust at the end of the five-year funding period.
Cost-of-Living Fund to help provide essentials to sufferers in need.
Funding Research Grants into new treatments, and clinical trials and supporting the approval of new drugs on trial.
Campaigning for awareness of Lupus, which is still a very unknown condition to many.
We cannot wait to share our fundraising events, and raise an incredible amount for both amazing charities!
