My name is Katie and I’m fundraising for Southampton general hospital Paediatric high dependency unit to put towards something they need in memory of our son Harrison.
here is his story.
Harrison William Albert keeling was born 26th March 2022 at 21:21pm weighting 5lb 8oz
At four days old He had to have an emergency Tracheostomy And rushing to Southampton General.
Harrison has a very rare Condition called wieack Wolff syndrome, arthrogryposis, fixed but flex elbows and wrists, small chin, a cleft pallet, clubfeet, shrinking brain,Seizures, 3 Hernia which one was a hiatus hernia, fed though a gastrostomy. Harrison had lost of different tests, he had 3 round of sepsis and doctors said if he got it again he may not survive and they was finding it harder to get a cannula into him so they could give any meds.
I have 2 other children and had to rely on friends to look after them 3 times a week just so I can go and visit Harrison and daddy would go up Tuesday Thursday Saturday and Sunday.
there was a lot of training to do to look after Harrison from changing the Tracheostomy, changing ties every day that took two people to change, First aid, being able to use the suction machine for secretions from his nose mouth and Tracheostomy and being able to set his ventilator up and changing the tubes once a week. To set his feeding tube and Machine up and it would take two people to bath him.
we got told there was not much more the doctors could do as Harrison brain is shrinking and they didn’t know how long he was going to live. So it took 5 nurses 3 oxygen tanks a suction machine a ventilator The SATs monitor just to take Harrison to the chapel get all three of our children christened we Evan took Harrison outside in the garden for the first and last time.
on the 24th July Harrison passed away in his mummy’s arm. I want to raise money to support PHDU, as they did so much for us as and helped us towards the end of his life.
the staff have been touch by Harrison and how unique he was One nurse calls him her peaky little blinder while another nurse said how absolutely incredible and strong he was and that he inspired so many people... I miss him lots!
thank you for reading and supporting my fundraising. Donations from this page will benefit Southampton Hospitals Charity, we hope that the PDHU at Southampton Children's Hospital will be able to buy some sensory lights to help distract the children.
