Heather is a New Jersey resident and mother of 3 in a one-parent household. She has been steadily working her way up the ranks in her career with the federal government. Successive promotions have ensured that she can keep up with the financial demands of life and supporting her children. One day, Heather received a promotion that put her over the income limit for the New Jersey child care assistance program.

She discovered that she would now have to come out of pocket for daycare expenses, a total of $1327 per week for 3 children. How would she be able to afford this enormous expense without a second income?

This is the experience of many families who want to excel in their career. Heather’s vision for this community program is to relieve the stress associated with paying child care fees for parents like herself and to provide the same opportunities that are offered to lower-income families, so that when they cross the threshold either by promotion, or salary increases, that their world won’t come crashing down. Parents should be able to feel free to climb the economic ladder without worrying about an enormous daycare bill when they no longer qualify for assistance.

This is why Heather has founded the Parents Deserve Success nonprofit organization.
