Myanmar is known for its beautiful ethnic diversity and its culture of warm hospitality. More than 135 ethnic groups call Myanmar home. Over 100 languages are spoken throughout the country. Despite the beautiful people and culture, Myanmar has been undergoing a significant humanitarian crisis due to the longest-running civil war in the world.
Since the military coup of 2021, Myanmar has entered a world of chaos and turmoil. Every day, you hear news of more people being affected by the war and conflict across the country. As you watch the video from the comfort of your homes, please think of our brothers and sisters taking shelter in the jungles and what we can do to help them. Through Heal the World, Heal Myanmar, we encourage everyone to join us in this mutual aid to uplift the ones who need us.
Well-respected artists from different ethnic groups across Myanmar have come together to participate in this initiative. On top of this, humanitarian teams across Myanmar have also cooperated in making this rare occasion possible. Through these cooperations and collaborations, we hope to send a harmonious message to the world about what is happening within the borders of Myanmar.
The process took several months amidst the coup and the COVID-19 third wave, resulting in a nationwide outbreak in Myanmar. Due to the current instability in Myanmar, the participants could not gather in one location. Some were displaced from their homes, fleeing from conflict and war, having to record their audio in whatever situation they were in, and some were also affected by the COVID-19 virus. Therefore, this initiative has come about despite many obstacles, thanks to all participants' energy, commitment, and tenacity.
"Heal the World" speaks to the power of putting others first for the good of humanity. We believe this song resonates well with the desires of the Myanmar people. During this pain and grief, we want to remind everyone of the power of compassion and kindness. We only have each other.
Let’s not forget our brothers and sisters who need us.
Let's act with love and care.
Let's take action for their sake and the sake of humanity and harmony.
Heal the World; Heal Myanmar is a non-profit initiative; all participants have voluntarily given their time, efforts, and talents to make this happen. Therefore, all proceeds will be directed towards humanitarian teams involved in this project and providing direct and tangible aid on the ground.
The more we collect, the more we'll be able to help families, children, the elderly and those with special needs.
