Pat Sages Memorial - AED Defibrilator Fundraiser
Donation protected
As an athlete, avid runner, coach, public defender, and long-standing commissioner for the Recreation Department of Hanover Township, NJ, Patrick Sages was a strong voice in our community, always seeking to improve the experience and offerings of our township, especially for our youth sports programs. We all, sadly, said goodbye to Patrick in November 2018, and he is still deeply missed. However, it is his love for community and athletics that we wish to carry on, by providing an AED Defibrillator station at one of our township fields. Not only will this fund serve to purchase the unit(s), it will further be used to educate the community on the importance of cardiovascular health and fitness. We know Pat is happy to see us improve the parks on which his children once played, and where he continues to watch his grandchildren grow and play.
DAY 2 UPDATE:
We're on our way to raising enough for three or more devices!
You all have been amazing in donating to this wonderful cause, and through your love for community, for Pat, and for the cause, we've exceeded our goal of, not only one device, but two devices!
We are going to raise the ceiling on our fundraiser, enough raise money for 3 brand new devices to be installed at separate locations.

OUR GOAL: AED Defibrillators for Hanover Township Fields
In 2018, the American Heart Association released statistics regarding Sudden Cardiac Arrests (SCA), reporting more than 356,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests annually in the United States. Heart disease has, for many years, been the leading cause of death in the US, and SCA incidents now account for more than half of these fatalities. Creating awareness of heart disease is our mission, as is the protection and well being of our friends and neighbors. Through this memorial fund we will install and provide a powerful instrument that, some report, can double or triple the survival rate of an SCA if administered prior to the arrival of emergency services.
The sports facilities and fields in our township are a gathering place for people of all ages, and the installation of Defibrillators is a first step to attempt to prevent and minimize the impact of heart-associated emergencies, like SCA. All proceeds of the fund will be applied to the purchase of a device, along with proper housing for outdoor use, installation and training on the device. Should we exceed our goal, we'll continue until we can purchase another... and another. The costs for these units vary between $1,300-$1,500, but we certainly hope to exceed the goal listed so we can purchase multiple units.
About Pat Sages
For those who didn’t know Pat, he is a NJ native Who lives and raised his family in Cedar Knolls over the last 25 years. He attended Seton Hall Prep in South Orange, graduating in 1977, where he was an All-State Baseball and Football player, and was the co-captain of the 1976 All State Team. He attended Columbia University where he also played football and graduated in 1981, prior to attending Fordham Law School, graduating in 1984. He became an attorney and has been practicing since 1984. He was the cherished husband of 33 years to Diane , and truly and deeply devoted father of Patrick Sages, Jr., Brittni Biggiani, Christopher Sages. Pat always reminded folks how happy he was to spend time and show pictures of his grandchildren, Mia and Timmy. Pat surrounded himself by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and who agree that knowing Pat was to know generosity, kindness, and optimism personified. With a tremendous sense of humor, work ethic, and integrity, we all still remember Pat most for his relentless want and willingness to help those around him while never asking for anything in return.
