Who We Are

We are four students from the University of Tennessee who are wanting to give back to the community through working with the non-profit organization Smoky Mountain Service Dogs . We are working with this organization to raise money and help the veterans who have made sacrifices for our country.

Smoky Mountain Service Dogs is a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to acquire, train, and provide service dogs to wounded veterans. This organization gives veterans who face physical and psychological challenges an opportunity to live a higher quality of life with a custom, highly-trained canine companion.

What We Need

We have set a fundraising goal of $2,000 to cover the full cost of a Boot Camp Sponsorship, which would provide all necessary equipment, meals, and training costs for both the dog and veteran that have been paired together. Training is arguably the most important part of crafting a successful, reliable service animal, and being able to provide this full cost of this camp for a veteran would allow Smoky Mountain Service Dogs to increase the number of canines they’re able to pair with veterans.

How This Helps

The goal of this organization is to help veterans who need physical assistance or emotional assistance through the use of service dogs. Many veterans have suffered trauma in their lives, and these service dogs increase self-sufficiency and confidence for many. The dogs enhance the quality of life for the wounded veterans, and it is proven that people who have experienced traumatic or stressful situations in life often become happier and more autonomous after living with a service animal.

Other Ways To Help

Monetary Donations are not the only way to become involved and help these dogs and veterans. Sharing our campaign page with your friends and family on social media and by word of mouth is the quickest, easiest way to help Smoky Mountain Service Dogs. The organization is also always in need volunteers , donated items, social media sharing, and sometimes foster parents for puppies.

Additional information can be found on the Smoky Mountain Service Dogs website and Facebook page.
