It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden, senseless loss of Olatunji Bolaji—a 77‑year‑old father, grandfather, husband, and devoted rideshare driver murdered while simply doing his job on April 16, 2025 in Center City Philadelphia.

The Tragedy

Waiting for a passenger outside Byblos Hookah Lounge, Olatunji was caught in a dispute when two men stepped from a dark‑colored Jeep Grand Cherokee. Gunfire erupted; he was struck in the back of the head and crashed a block away on Chestnut Street. The suspects remain at large.

About the Organizer & Beneficiary

My name is Alex Morris, president of the BSU – Philly Chapter. Our organization has known the Bolaji family for years and is supporting Olatunji's wife, Charice Bolaji (beneficiary), and their children through this unimaginable loss.

How Your Gift Will Be Used

$12,000 for funeral and memorial service expenses
$5,000 for immediate family living expenses during this period of grief
$3,000 for counseling services for family members

Any amount beyond these needs will fund a trust for Olatunji's grandchildren, including his unborn grandchild.

How the Funds Reach the Family

Direct transfer: GoFundMe deposits every donation straight into Charice Bolaji’s bank account.
Fallback: If Charice is unable to receive transfers, I (Alex Morris) will withdraw the funds and deliver them to her in person, providing receipts for full transparency.
