My name is Barry Forry. I was raised in Lethbridge Alberta. I went to school at Agnes Davidson Elementary, then Gilbert Patterson Junior High then Lethbridge Collegiate Insititute.
I played hockey growing up and many other sports.
I moved to Calgary and went to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and graduated with a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
I moved to Vancouver Island for a few years and enjoyed salmon fishing almost every day with my parents.
After my dad passed away in 1984 from Cancer, I moved back to Calgary.
As my mom was legally blind, she moved back to Calgary a year later to join me and enjoy the company of her dear sisters and family.
She lived a full and long life, passing away at 98.
After my mom passed, I was lost and decided to move to Mexico.
I found a wonderful woman in Mexico, Ely, who I share my life and love with.
Unfortunately, on December 31, I got sick. I thought it was just the flu, but I was sadly mistaken. I went for a lung x-ray on January 18/2023 and it showed a nodule in my right upper lung, approximately 6mm in diameter.
I was very sick for 2 weeks, then got a little better but had absolutely no energy for another 3 weeks.
Eventually, I was well enough to get up although my lung capacity was almost zero.
I couldn't leave my house. Walking up 1 or 2 flights of stairs left me winded and panting for air.
I thought I would recover.............
I went to see a lung specialist in March, she prescribed 2 different inhalers that did absolutely nothing for my health.
I went to get a CT scan in June and saw a different lung specialist.
My health had not improved at all since January when I originally got sick. If anything I felt worse.
The doctor informed me my lung nodule had grown, and doubled in size to 13mm and had a spiculated/ octopus shape.
Three different specialists have told me it's cancer.
As we all know when dealing with cancer. Every day that it's left alone isn't good.
I had a CT-PET scan on August 2 and got the results from the doctor on August 9. The doctor told me I have Stage 4 cancer, and to get to Canada asap. I arrived in Calgary on August 11.
My lung nodule was 13mm in mid-June. It had grown to 44mm on August 2. On August 11 I had another CT at Foothills Emergency in Calgary and the nodule measured 64mm.
I'm going to fight with everything I've got. I quit smoking over 4 years ago, so that part is done.
I'm going for my biopsy this morning, August, 14.
Thank you all for your donations big and small. Thank you for well wishes and kind words.
I am staying in Rm 634 at Foothills Hospital. I would love to have visitors but please text me, FB message me or email me before coming as I have continuing testing and I am exhausted.
I still need your help. Now more than ever. I am asking for help, begging for help, pleading for help. So many of my friends have passed already, too young. I don't want to join that group.
Please share my GoFundMe page on social media. All my old friends, I'm begging. Please help me before it's too late.
Any help will be greatly appreciated from the bottom of my heart.
God bless
I pray everyone has good health
Love
