Ya'at'ééh, shík'éí dóó shí dínę'é. Taralyn Adakai-Fotu yįnshyé. I am from Dennehotso, AZ. For most of us, the COVID-19 pandemic has been life-altering, even more so for our beloved Navajo Nation. As of 4/14/2020, there have been 838 confirmed cases and 33 confirmed deaths. These rates are alarming considering the size and population of the Navajo Nation. Although I live off of the reservation I have many friends and family back home, many of whom work within the healthcare setting. As an effort to help, my team is raising money to help acquire Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face masks, gloves, gowns and face shields, for our healthcare providers. As a registered nurse myself, working in healthcare at this time has been overwhelming, tiring, rewarding, and so much more that no one anticipated. The thought of having insufficient PPE is daunting and terrifying because they are essential to the protection of healthcare workers and their families at this time.
