Protect the front line!
A Doctor friend at St Paul's Hospital reached out to me over the weekend asking for my help. Currently, front line doctors are sourcing personal protection equipment (PPE) from Canadian Tire, KMS Tools, Cloverdale Paint, etc.
Supplies are scarce. Non-essential construction projects have not been shut down in BC. Workers still require PPE to be safe on the job site (concrete, asbestos, lead, etc). People have also been panic buying protection equipment thinking it will keep them safe, and priority has not been given to doctors working the front line.
Leaning on relationships I've built in the construction industry, Sunday, March 22nd I was able to source and purchase roughly 3k worth of personal protection equipment. Tyvek suits, respirators, reusable half-mask respirators, and full-face respirators.
Monday, March 23rd I delivered my first load of equipment to a doctors working the front line who will redistribute amongst peers.
I'm asking for your help. I alone cannot sustain these costs and supplies are disappearing.
I am reaching out to friends, family and the community at large to help me carry the cost so I can continue driving out, grabbing the gear, and delivering it where it is needed most.
With your help (whatever you can afford) I can continue to leverage my connections with Construction suppliers to get this equipment and drive it straight to where it is needed. No red tape. No approval process. No committee meetings. I just buy it and deliver it. And the Doctors pass it around to the staff.
All proceeds are going to equipment - so every dollar I fundraise goes directly to protecting our Healthcare Workers.
$30 per hooded Tyvek suit, $50 for a half-mask P95 respirator, $250 for a P100 full-face respirator, $25 for a face shield. Any donation will go directly to these costs.
