Protect Frontline Workers
Donation protected
FIRSTLY:
We started a FB Vancouver COVID-19 PPE maker community group, called PROTECT OUR FRONTLINE IN VANCOUVER, which was formed mid-March when the pandemic started to become reality for a lot of us, especially with city lockdowns. This group was created to manage an ever-increasing need for Maker-Produced PPE (To put it simply, homemade personal protective equipment, such as cloth face masks, scrub caps, scrubs/gowns). To date (which is September 5th, 2020), we have made and donated approximately 35,000 homemade PPE items. This is so amazing for a community-based initiative.
Volunteers are donating their time and resources to make this all happen. Our group’s efforts are going out the door faster than we can make them.
We officially have a solid game plan and are looking for a few things. If you are, or have, any of the below, please consider joining this group and/or contributing your time/effort/supplies to protecting our health providers and frontline workers:
SEAMSTER/SEWING SKILLS - We need sewers! If you’re a beginner or a professional, we need you! If you’re an advanced sewer or a professional sewer, we could additionally use your skill sets in a separate sub-group dedicated to producing large volume orders as requested by hospitals and community organizations in the DTES and such.
SEWING EQUIPMENT - If you have a sewing machine, that would be helpful to sew! If you have additional sewing equipment, that would be even more awesome! If you can help cut batch orders, please let me know.
FABRICS & NOTIONS - We are looking for donations of sewing supplies and notions such as cotton fabric, non-woven melt-blown fabric, stretchy knits for head-bands (to save ear-burn from wearing looped masks), elastic, binding tape, twill tape, thread, buttons, etc.
PACKING SUPPLIES - We are looking for donations of packing materials such as NEW & UNUSED ziplock bags for mask packing and/or larger plastic packing bags for scrubs/gowns, gloves and hand sanitizer for our contactless drivers.
MONETARY DONATIONS - If you have the ability to or want to donate, please donate here! With your monetary donation, we will be using this to source bulk wholesale fabric, notions and supplies to facilitate the distribution channel of getting PPE to our frontline.

SECONDLY:
If this campaign meets the goal, exceeds it, or if we can gather enough supplies donations, the extra funds raised will go to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
Thank you in advance for any donation or help you can provide! It is much appreciated and will help so many people in the Vancouver community (and beyond). You get a big virtual hug from me and all those you're supporting!
