Shrieve Family Support
On August 11, 2017, our son and brother, RJ (a Lieutenant with the Pennsylvania National Guard and avid Pittsburgh fan of every sport), was involved in a tragic accident with a train. We were told he wouldn't make it 48 hours and that we should prepare ourselves for the worst. Our lives stopped and, as anyone would do in a situation like this, our family dropped everything to be by his side.
RJ fought. And every time we thought he had given everything he had, he fought a little more. Two months later, he was medically cleared to leave the hospital and finish his recovery at home. Part of his being home required around the clock care. Because home for him was Pittsburgh, and the rest of our family resides in either Ohio, New York or Maine, this meant a lot coordination and traveling to make sure someone was always with him.
For us, this meant leaving our jobs. Without any income, we’ve depleted all of our saving's paying medical costs and traveling expenses. We are looking for some financial help to be able to keep up with RJ's recovery until he is able to fully care for himself. Please consider donating to our cause. Thank you!
