Rachel's epilepsy journey to freedom.

Hello, my name is Katie and I am fundraising for my 3 year old daughter Rachel.

Rachel was diagnosed with Focal Cortical Dysplasia of the right frontal lobe in October 2022. In utero a small part of Rachel's brain did not develop, this has lead to Rachel having Refractory Epilepsy (drug resistant).

Rachel currently is on her 4th medication and still has multiple seizures everyday. Rachel has 4 different seizure, Myoclonic seizures, Absence seizures and Atonic seizures and Tonic seizures.

On Monday the 3rd July, she had 9 TC seizures, 1 of which resulted in her getting a black eye. This is a daily occurrence.

There is a possibility that Rachel could have surgery to remove the part of the brain that is causing the seizures BUT this can only happen here in the UK if her seizures are Focal but her medical team in Manchester believe them to be Generalised.

Rachel's seizures have no triggers which makes them all the more dangerous. She is losing muscle tone in her legs and will be in a wheelchair for travel by the time she is 5.

We are trying to raise as much as possible for Rachel to have further testing and surgery with Dr Tomycz, he is a surgeon based in New Jersey but is able to give Rachel her treatment for a fraction of the price in Europe, anything up to £20,000.

It would be £100,000 in the US.

Dr Tomycz will be in Europe next year and is confident that he can help Rachel have a better chance at life.
